Eating Out -Södermalm

Café Hängmattan

Södermannagatan 10, 11623 Stockholm

T-bana: Merdborgarplatsen

A cute brazilian café serving veggie and vegan food. They make a yummy salad – just ask to have it all raw and without the bread and patés (which are vegan and yummy but not raw) and order it with avocado.

They also serve fruit based smoothies.

I have to admit that we have found them a little unreliable regarding opening times…have turned up to find them not serving food…

Herman’s is a great veggie restaurant with a stunning view of the Old town (Gamla Stan) and the water, with a nice international vibe. They serve a buffet where there are a few raw options so you can get your self a nice big plate of salad. They almost always have sunflower seeds to sprinkle on your salad, but if you want something more filling then maybe bring an avocado with you :)

On the weekends they serve themed food. If you go there for the mexican theme then you should be able to enjoy a nice serving of guacamole to compliment you salad.

They occasionally serve smoothies and a fruit/nut ‘power bar’ (which isn’t amazing though, to be honest!), but not always.

If you want a raw dessert to nibble on while your friends are tucking in their lovely (and vegan) cakes, then take a trip to Goodstore or Gryningen first and get yourself a raw chocolate bar …but ssshh, don’t tell the folks at Herman’s that I suggested you do this! Or why not ask them for raw desserts – the more of us that ask, the more they see that there is demand! ;)

On Wednesday’s all their food is vegan and in the summer they often have live music on the weekends.
